Bill That's not an iPIX 4.88mm lens.
Its the lens convertor they sold as part of their kits for non-Nikon Coolpix compact cameras.
PTGui will "read" it as a 8 or 9mm lens
The iPIX 4.88mm lens was made by Coastal Optics, who's name is on the lens next to "iPIX" and it fits dSLR cameras. It comes with either a Nikon or Canon to T-mount adapter

Hi Doug, Appreciate the heads up on this. Don't know much about this lens and as markings saying "IPIX Lens" on the lens rim so assumed is was same as their website. Do you know if Easypano software will work well with this lens? Also how best do you think I should describe this lens? thx Bill

Bill I don't know if it works in Easypano. It probably depends a lot on what compact camera its used on.
iPIX/MEV still sells that lens with a Coolpix P5000/5100 kit and I just found they have a P6000 kit. I know it can do 2 fisheye stitching with the P5000/5100 on the iPIX software. It was also used on a Kodak compact and 3 shots were required.
They call it the "iPIX 185° Fisheye Lens" on their website, but the "iPIX 185° Fisheye Converter" is more accurate
Its 82° in Albuquerque today, what's Phoenix like?

Bill,
Look at the Soligor 0.19X on this page - it's what you have on offer. Very similar conceptually to a Nikkor FC-E8: panopticus.altervista.org/fishlist/adapters.htm

Hey Doug, thx for that! I need to take some sample pics and play with the EP software. Any idea what adapters would be needed for the P6000? Phoenix hit 102 this week - bit cooler today however - only 95.
thx again Bill

For the P5000/5100 I think the adapter is the Nikon Coolpix UR-E20
You might stop by your favorite camera store with the iPIX Convertor and see if they have a P6000 and an assortment of Coolpix adapters and give it a try.
Other than that you could try contacting iPIX.com and ask what adapter they're using.
102° already!!! And I thought it was hot here because I was using my car AC a little yesterday.

I have used an IPIX FE converor lens like that on a P5100 using the Nikon UR-E20 adapter and a 28-37 step ring.
For the P6000 I think you will need the UR-E21 adapter and a 43-37 step ring.

It's the same lens that was being talked about in this thread:
www.panoguide.com/forums/qna/5960/
Also the same lens I show in the pictures in this thread:
nodalninja.com/forum/index.php?topic=676.0
I haven't been able to get a pano I've liked with less than 6 shots around. The edges are really soft with the camera I use. The back threads are 37mm so whatever your adapter threads are, just get a step down/up to 37mm and you'll be in business.

The P6000 uses the UR-E21 adaptor which has a 43mm threaded front. So you'll need a 43-37 step down ring.
We just ordered our stock of P6000 kits from IPIX should be here end of this week.
You can stitch this lens 2 shots using IPIX Interactive Studio (of course), Stitcher 2009 and Panoweaver 6.0. I've not tried it with PTGUI.

Does anyone know whether the lens that Bill is selling might be useful on a Canon G10?
Perhaps using a lensmate G10 adapter part A and a 58mm to 37mm step down ring.

No reason why it won't work. Sensor, lens, adapter tube, step down ring, fisheye -- just like any other camera. Although, you might see a lot of CA with the pixel density on the G10.
For $45 you really can't go wrong. You can always sell it your self -- probably for more money. I've seen the same lens go for $145 on eBay...

Andrew Are you going to be carrying the iPIX Rotators or is 360Precision going to make one for the P6000 with the iPIX Fisheye Convertor?

We have had folks asking if this was sold. We do have more than one used. As long as the listing is live in our store we have at least one left - thx.
