Looking for employment through Photokina, and also in Germany / Europe

Hello,
I am going to Germany to see Photokina this September, and I will be looking for employment at the show, and also in Germany and other nearby countries.
I am looking for photography, product design, graphic design, or architectural work. Please message me or send me an email through my website www.thomashuang.net
At the same time I want to visit many of the German friends I've met while traveling for the past 4.5 years, but I've got a problem. Americans are only allowed in the Schengen Area for 90 days in a 180 day period.
90 days is not enough time for me to do all the things that I plan to do. It is hardly enough time to travel through 1 country, let alone the 26 countries in the Schengen Area. It looks like there are only 3 ways to stay longer than 90 days: 1)find employment, 2) apply for a freelance visa, 3) fall in love with a German girl.
Does anyone have work which may suit my skills?
Does anyone have experience with the freelance visa and what it requires, and could give me some advice?

Stay with one thing-photokina. their is enough work to check all the stands. if you dont yet have a bed yet you are lost. should have reserved one-bed room at youth hostel deutz(skyscraper near railway station). otherwise you would have to travel a lot outside cologne to get your bed/hotel. Germany does have enough photographers. Europe is full of economic problems. if you are not rich you are lost coming from outside.

Where exactly is the convention center? Messeplatz 1?
I know someone who I can stay with in Essen, but I'm not sure whether she is on holiday during that week. I'll have to ask. But it's 1 hour by train. Also might know someone in Bonn, and I'll ask my other friends if they know anyone who I could possibly stay with.
I'll look up hostels, I know it's going to be difficult to get a bed, but I always stay in dorm rooms. I would assume typical visitors would get a single room and those would be completely booked by now. Dorm rooms are probably more popular with under 30s (which I am).
I'm not sure about the tickets though. Are there unlimited tickets, or do I need to book ahead to get one?
I tried to ask in ToyTownGermany about the visa, but new members to the forum are restricted from asking these types of questions....

photokina has a website with all informations. maybe yoiu will find a bed in youthhostel deutz since its a hug building but no single rooms anymore. may some days you get free beds. where will you sleep the other days. in station? no good idea. very stressful. and multiroom is also stressful.

I found 3-4 hostels with many dorm beds available in Cologne. I have been living in hostel dorms and my tent for the past 5 years while traveling. Also, 5 years in dorm rooms in university before that. The trick is to always wear ear plugs when you sleep =)
