A Compendium of Pano Principles
Posted: 20 Jun 2013 at 23:38 GMT
Everyone has an opinion, but not everyone is right. If you know the medium inside and out, are tired of hearing opinions presented as fact, and are interested in helping others, read on…

We're organizing a new knowledge base; one where facts are presented as such. Unlike the forum, this is intended to be a definitive "getting started" guide. This is not to discount the inherent advantage of communal discussions on Panoguide, but to help simplify the learning experience for newcomers.

Topics within this new resource will include:
• What Equipment Do I Need? (a summary)
• DSLR Cameras
• Rotators (Panoramic Heads)
• Stitching Software
• Tripods and Leveling
• Lenses
• Retouching Stitched Images
• Nadir Patches and Logos

If you're interested in contributing to the compendium, please let us know which topic you'd like to cover. And if you think we're missing a valuable topic, please let us know that as well. The best channel to reach us is through Note that we're not interested in propaganda from manufacturers. Your contribution will be credited to you with appreciation by our team and many others.

One aspect left out of this list, is virtual tour design. Taking the tour to the professional level, out of the "one size fits all" walmart touring, where no effort is put into designing individual interfaces for the tours. Dropping in a logo and a nadir patch is unfortunately the "highlight" of "design efforts" for way too many panorama content creators, even when doing tours for paying clients.
